I finished nursing school in December, took my RN boards on the 24th of January (also my 21st birthday) and just started on an SPCU floor yesterday! _______________________________ I've looked at these photos side by side for the past couple of days and I can't help but be flooded with a ton of emotions. For the first time, I feel like I can finally take a breath and be proud of how far we've come. I say "we" because as silly as it may sound to you, we're a team; Brayden and I. We've literally grown up together. He's my biggest fan, and I'm most definitely his. I'm not the first young mother to get a college degree, and I most definitely won't be the last. Don't get me wrong, it's difficult to beat the "status quo" so to speak but it's far from impossible. Being from a small town, I heard it all. I "ruined my life" , "had so much going for me", the whole 9 yards. People that I thought would never turn their back against me did, and never looked back. The people who were really and truly there for me stuck by my side and that's all that really mattered. I didn't realize it then, but that in itself was a blessing in disguise. The organization presently works in about six states of Nigeria covering four geopolitical zones.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nutrition Officer

Job Description

·       S/He will be responsible for identifying priority issues on nutrition within EDFHO’s project areas; train community care coordinators, volunteers, and care givers on providing adequate nutrition to their children base on locally available food sources.

·       Conduct nutritional baseline assessment for children, mentor and monitor programs with reference to nutrition.

·       Lead all training relating to Nutrition, attend the Nutrition community of practice meeting, lead the private sector linkages and attend core training on Nutrition and ensure information is disseminated and used in the field.

·       Relate with EDFHO’s technical team on issues regarding Nutrition in EDFHO project areas.

Qualifications

·       S/He must have a nursing degree/background, food & nutrition, or any other relevant degree with 2 years practical experience on the job.

·       Applicants MUST be computer literate and able to use basic computer packages effectively.

Who are these men?

Two thousand years ago, nursing school was for men only.

Only men were considered "pure" enough to enter what is thought to be the world's first nursing school, which was founded in India about 250 B.C., according to Bruce Wilson, Ph.D., RN, and associate professor at the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas.

For the next two millennia, nursing remained male-dominated. It took warfare in the 19th and 20th centuries to transform nursing from being considered a man's job to a women's profession.
